Our youth soccer organization is currently looking for dedicated volunteers to help support our programs—and we need your help! Volunteering is a rewarding way to give back to the community, support local kids, and make a real impact. Each position only requires a two-year commitment, making it a manageable way to get involved without a long-term obligation. Whether you have experience in soccer or not, your time and energy can make a big difference. Our organization relies on volunteers to keep things running smoothly, and we truly can’t do it without you. Join us and be a part of something meaningful!

Assistant Recreational Director

The Assistant Recreational Director plays a vital supporting role in the success of our youth recreational soccer program. Working alongside the Vice President of Recreation, this volunteer helps ensure a fun, organized, and welcoming experience for players, families, and coaches.


Our recreational program runs for 8 weeks in the spring and 8 weeks in the fall, serving kids of all skill levels in a non-competitive environment focused on learning, teamwork, and fun.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with program planning and logistics for both spring and fall seasons
  • Help answer questions from parents, coaches, and volunteers
  • Support uniform distribution and setup at the start of each season
  • Provide general assistance to volunteer coaches, including helping with equipment or field questions
  • Be present at game days to support smooth operations and respond to any needs
  • Help with the coordination of referees

  • Comfortable answering questions and working with families and volunteers
  • Ability to commit to helping during the 8-week spring and fall seasons
  • Some knowledge of youth soccer structure is helpful but not required

Assistant Competitive Director

The Assistant Competitive Director plays a key supporting role in the development and execution of the Exeter / West Greenwich Youth soccer competitive program. Working closely with the Vice President of Competitive Soccer (Aaron Butler), this position helps ensure the program runs smoothly and continues to provide a high-quality experience for players, coaches, and families.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Vice President of Competitive in managing the day-to-day operations of the competitive soccer program
  • Support team formation, tryout logistics, and player placement processes
  • Help coordinate communication with coaches, team managers, and families
  • Assist with scheduling practices, games, and tournaments as needed
  • Support compliance with league rules, registration requirements, and organizational policies
  • Attend online meetings and events related to the competitive program
  • Serve as a point of contact for questions or concerns when the Vice President of Competitive is unavailable

Qualifications:

  • Passion for youth sports and player development
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Some knowledge of youth soccer structure is helpful but not required

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to contribute to the growth of youth soccer in our community while gaining leadership experience in a dynamic volunteer role. This position is a 2 year volunteer position.

Referee Director

The Referee Coordinator is a critical volunteer role responsible for assigning referees to all home games for our competitive soccer teams during the spring and fall seasons. While this role does not require you to be physically present at games or practices, it plays a vital part in the success and smooth operation of our competitive program.


Using the online assignment tools provided by Soccer Rhode Island, the Referee Coordinator schedules certified referees to cover matches at the EWGYSA home fields.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assign certified referees to all home games for EWGYSA competitive teams using the Soccer Rhode Island online assignment platform
  • Maintain regular communication with referees and confirm their availability
  • Coordinate any necessary changes or reassignments throughout the season
  • Work with the Vice President of Competitive and other team officials to ensure accurate game scheduling and referee coverage

Certification Requirement:
Soccer Rhode Island requires that the Referee Assignor be a certified referee. Certification involves:

  • Completing an online course
  • Demonstrating a basic understanding of the game
  • Attending a short on-field training session


The organization will reimburse any costs associated with being certified.

Referees are essential to providing a fair, structured, and enjoyable experience for players, coaches, and families. As Referee Coordinator, you play a direct role in ensuring the integrity and professionalism of every game—making this one of the most impactful positions in our organization.


Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of soccer and willingness to become a certified referee
  • Reliable and detail-oriented with good communication skills
  • Comfortable working with online scheduling tools
  • Ability to manage assignments and coordinate with multiple stakeholders

Fundraising Director

The Fundraising Director is responsible for leading and organizing all fundraising efforts for EWGYSA. This role is vital to the success and continued growth of our organization, helping to generate funds beyond player registrations. These additional funds directly support our ability to maintain top-tier soccer fields, partner with organizations like the New England Revolution for enhanced coaching, and provide a better overall experience for our players and families.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and execute fundraising initiatives throughout the year
  • Identify and manage fundraising opportunities such as calendar raffles, raffle baskets, golf tournaments, or new creative events of your choosing
  • Coordinate with the Board to set fundraising goals and align events with organizational needs
  • Assist with recruiting and scheduling volunteers to support fundraising events and concession stand operations
  • Work closely with other Board members and volunteers to promote fundraising efforts and encourage community participation

  • No prior fundraising experience required—just a passion for supporting youth sports and a willingness to take initiative

Term Commitment:
This is a two-year volunteer term with flexible hours depending on the fundraising calendar and events.
