Open Position
EWG Soccer has lost one of its greatest supporters and friend. Mike Schmidt passed away April 3, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mike was a positive individual who always had a smile on his face and a friendly greeting for all. His influence on our Association created a positive atmosphere.
He held numerous positions in the association, such as Treasurer, Concession Stand Coordinator, Coach, and Photo Coordinator. He was also instrumental with field setup, grass cutting, and any other job that needed to get done. He was always found in his favorite place, the concession stand, where his smile and calm demeanor allowed everyone to feel welcome and important. There were times he’d wait for a child to select what kind of ring pop he/she wanted no matter how long it took. He always said this is the players’ place and it needs to be as much fun as it may be.
He was looking forward to this Spring Season even though he knew it would be difficult because of the way he was feeling. His devotion to our Association was that important to him. So when you walk around the soccer complex please remember that Mike had a lot to do with it, and when visiting his favorite place think of him and all he meant to us.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Chris, and children Lisa, David, and Sarah. We’ll miss him dearly.
