Q: WE DON'T LIVE IN EXETER OR WEST GREENWICH, CAN MY CHILD STILL PLAY FOR EWG SOCCER?
A: Yes! Anyone from any town can play for EWGYSA
Q: HOW DO I DETERMINE THE CORRECT AGE GROUP FOR MY CHILD?
A: Refer to the age level matrix to determine your child's age level. However your child will be automatically placed into the correct level according to his birth year.
Q: MY CHILD WILL TURN 3 JUST AFTER THE CUT OFF DATE, CAN THEY PLAY?
A: All cases like this are discussed by the Executive Board before a decision is made. Your child’s safety is our number one priority.
Q: CAN MY SON OR DAUGHTER PLAY IN AN AGE LEVEL HIGHER OR LOWER?
A: Players are strongly encouraged to participate at their proper age level. In limited circumstances upon request, after consultation by the Executive Board, players may be granted permission to play in a higher age group, but never a lower.
Q: WHEN DOES THE SEASON START AND END?
A: Our Rec program runs for 8 weeks in the Spring April - June & Fall late August - October.
Q: WHEN AND WHERE ARE RECREATIONAL SOCCER GAMES?
A: All Recreational games are played on Saturdays between 8 am and 2 pm at our complex on Rte. 102 in West Greenwich. Click for directions.
Q: CAN MY CHILD REQUEST TO PLAY ON THE SAME TEAM AS THEIR FRIENDS TO FACILITATE CAR POOLING?
A: When you are registering your child, please submit any requests in the comments section. But please understand that fulfilling requests is secondary to establishing balanced teams. Although requests are taken into consideration, the program has no obligation to fulfill any particular request and makes no promise in that regard. Of course, a parent who coaches will have their own child on the team, and siblings who qualify to play in the same age group will be placed together (unless specifically requested otherwise). Please note that at ages U10 and up, the program’s obligation to assemble balanced teams is particularly paramount, and, accordingly, grouping teams in accord with family requests secondary.
Q: CAN I REQUEST A COACH THAT MY CHILD HAD PREVIOUSLY?

Q: HOW ARE TEAMS FORMED?
A: After the registration period ends, the age group lists are compiled and the Executive Board will place players on teams according to player rating number, parent requests, siblings, parent coach etc. Again, the program’s obligation to assemble balanced teams is particularly paramount, and, accordingly, grouping teams in accord with family requests secondary.
Q: WHEN WILL WE BE CONTACTED ABOUT THE TEAM MY CHILD WILL PLAY ON?
A: The teams will be formed just after late registration closes in early March (Spring) or early August (Fall). We then need to recruit coaches. Once we have coaches for every team, the coaches will receive their team roster. You should expect a call shortly after our Coaches' Meeting 1-2 weeks before the season starts. If you have not heard by the week before opening day, you can email the registrar to inquire.
Q: I WOULD LIKE TO HELP OUT AT THE FIELD ON GAME DAYS, WHO DO I CONTACT?
A: We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers! All of our Executive Board members have children playing as well and many don’t get to see them play because we’re short of help. Sign up on HERE commit to a time so we know when we are covered. You can also come up to the stand and ask how you can help out! Our organization runs by 100% volunteer power and your help is greatly appreciated!
Q: ARE THE SPRING AND FALL SEASON SCHEDULES THE SAME?
A: The length of the season, practices and general start times of all games are the same in each season. Coaches, individual team numbers, and their game times change each season.

Q: MY CHILD WOULD LIKE TO TRY OUT FOR THE COMPETITIVE/DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAM. WHEN ARE TRYOUTS?
A: Tryouts for our Strikers Developmental/Competitive teams will be in mid-June and will be announced HERE and on Facebook.

Q: I AM THINKING ABOUT VOLUNTEERING TO COACH?
A: EWG Soccer is a volunteer organization, and the program cannot be maintained without parent volunteers. In addition to coaches and assistant coaches. the program routinely requires many others willing to lend assistance. Prior soccer experience is not required. Participating as a youth sports volunteer is a valuable and rewarding endeavor. Contact any Executive Board member for additional information or CLICK HERE.
