The Exeter-West Greenwich Youth Soccer Association (EWG Soccer)
serves Exeter, West Greenwich, and nearby communities in rural
south-central
Rhode Island. We have worked since our inception to grow both our
association and the sport of soccer by providing a safe and fun
atmosphere for the children and their families. Founded in 1996, we now
play all of our home matches at the 8-acre soccer complex in West
Greenwich that we opened in 2002. EWG Soccer is a
member of Soccer Rhode Island and USYSA and sponsors both Recreational
(House) and Competitive (Travel) programs.
We have both Fall and Spring Recreational Soccer
programs for children from ages 3 - 15 who want to learn the game and
improve their
skills in a fun and non-competitive environment. The emphasis is on
sportsmanship, fun, teamwork, and building skills. There are no
tryouts, and we do our best to create teams balanced both in skill and
gender (all recreational teams are co-ed). We do not keep score
in any age groups and all participants who play through the end of
the season receive a trophy recognizing their effort.
For
children wanting to compete at a higher level, we also offer an
oppotunity to play against teams from other associations in Rhode
Island. Our Competitive Soccer program fields both boys and girls teams
in all age groups
from under 10 to under 19. New players wishing to play the following
Spring in the U14 and below age groups
must tryout during the Fall tryouts. All others should contact the
Competitive Director for information on whether space is available in
their age group.
